GLENDALE – Celebri-tant and reality show star Nicole Richie was charged today with misdemeanor drunk driving stemming from her wrongway trip down the Ventura (134) Freeway two months ago, Los Angeles District Attorney’s office said. Richie, 25, is slated to be arraigned Wednesday in Glendale Superior Court, said deputy District Attorney Edwin Greene. She will not have to appear in court. The daughter of singer Lionel Richie and star of “The Simple Life” arrested Dec. 11 after a California Highway Patrol officer said she drove her sport utility vehicle east on the westbound lanes of state Route 134, near the Buena Vista Street exit in Burbank. When officers arrived, they found Richie had stopped in the carpool lane, and she was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The district attorney also alleged Richie had a prior misdemeanor DUI conviction in June 2003.
